31/52 Happy Halloween

Kids with friends have watched Ghostbusters and yes decided to all get dressed up as Ghostbusters this year. Our friend Ange is a master in creating costumes and made great Slimer costume for herself and made ghostes for me and Loren. The Halloween celebration in our area here in Düusseldorf is well attended and organized since it lives a lot of expats in our neighborhood.

18-19/52 Weekly update Düsseldorf Summer weather in May

Düsseldorf has had summer weather with nice warm temperatures  When the weather is better I do have less time to write my weekly blog updates and also less time to work on my creative projects. More time to enjoy outside and our days are getting longer and longer and kids has been staying up way too late the past two weeks. Picknicks with friends outside in a park, going to the stable late and afternoon at the swimming pool in Kaiserswerth tend to always be a longer event then I plan. But hey soon summer-break right so better to get use to staying up late.  One weekend we went to Eindhoven for the day. We like to go to the Netherlands - people are friendly and even if it is only an hour away you can feel it is a different country with an other spirit. A spirit which is more open and more friendly. It is also good to go on a Sunday when most things are closed here in Germany. Here is a few pictures of a graffiti wall right next to PSV Eindhoven football arena. On the other side...

Christmas markets around Düsseldorf

Before leaving Christmas behind and focusing on this year I have to write this post about all the Christmas markets in and around Düsseldorf that I visited this year. Apart from that the weather more felt like March in December the Christmas spirit came early thanks to all the traditional German Christmas markets. The Christmas markets were set up well in time for first of Advent and was opened everyday up until Christmas. Festive lights, decorations, cosy wooden stalls with all sorts of things were sold. Handmade German ornaments and decorations ( a lot of made in China ornaments too) local specialities such as traditionally decorated gingerbread cookies. The classic hot beverage Glühwein was served in many stals and often served in a special designed mug. Bratwurst, crepes and other on the go food sold everywhere. In most markets you can also find a stage where Christmas songs were performed and where St Nicholas came to greet the children etc. In Düsseldorf they also had an ice-ska...

Easter in Wittlaer

Easter has been and gone long time ago, but anyways I thought I will write a few words about our Easter 2019 here in Wittlaer, Düssledorf. Actually it was our second Easter here. It was Easter time 2018 when me, the kids and my dad came down first time to Düsseldorf to see our new neighborhood and house which Loren had picked and already lived in part-time for a couple of months. He was nervous that we would not like it and I was nervous that we would not like it. The house was pretty empty because our furniture moved from Sweden during the summer but anyways we got a good feeling and felt positive that the move to Düsseldorf will be a good move. A year later and we feel like this is our home and know our ways around. Easter 2019 was summer warm - 25 degrees and sunny A childhood friend of mine and her son came to visit us. Anything special you want to do or see I asked and she said " Enjoy the city feeling and see tall buildings" And so first day we went with U-bahn into...

Moscow in bright February sunlight

And so came the most beautiful February day along, with the strongest and brightest winter sun The feeling of being privileged came over me as I walked along Moscow river Privileged to be able to experience and explore life in a city and country which I never even thought I would even visit. A city and country with a long history which is very unknown to me.  Every place has something to offer I think and to be able to explore what Moscow has to offer good and bad is something I am enjoying more and more as time is passing and I am feeling more comfortable and home here. The sun helps of course! So maybe I will love Moscow by the time the summer comes.  We live close to Gorky Park, Moscow's central park of culture and leisure, only 15 min walk from our apartment. During the winter you can find Russia and Europe's largest ice skating rink here, 59 000 Sq feet. Also great café's and fun pla...

Update is coming soon when I am done with all the boxes !!

Reusing this autumn illustration of me  Team Nikolovski's adventures continuous and it has been a lot going on with moving from Prague to Moscow with a longer then planned stop in Vingåker, Sweden. Updates are coming very soon I promise!! While staying in Sweden a lot of creativity as a result of the limited access to internet but to show it I have to transfer creativity to computer ( not my favorite part of the process). Also I am drowning in boxes to unpack here in Moscow apartment. God damn it I am so super extra bored of unpacking boxes and trying to organize things as I want it. I know it is fun to make it nice and home but first Lundsätter and now here, is there an end to it? And I still can't find my stars and advent lights for this weekend. Moscow has treated us well so far, but we are just getting use to the neighborhood really and UNPACKING BOXES. I will be back soon with more moving details and moving thoughts. Mila and neighbour cat at Lundsätter on of many...

My waffles in media

I while back I had a journalist and photographer here from Expat.cz. They wanted to make an article about Swedish Easter breakfast. After a lot of thinking I decided to prepare waffles with different Swedish toppings. Salmon, egg, creme fraiche, red unions as nice foodie waffles and cloud-berry jam and whipped cream as nice sweety once. It was a lot of fun. Flour and all sorts of food everywhere as Mila got a little restless and also wanted to help. The article ended up very nice and very well written. The article will be published on expat.cz in a little while, but it has already been published in a Czech food magazine called Chefparade, see below.
