24/52 Weekly update A stand at Kiwifalter Summerfest

I got asked if I wanted to have a stand at Kiwifalter Summer fest this week. Kiwifalter here in Düsseldorf is a family center which organizes gymnastic, dance, art classes and many other courses for all ages. I was happy to be asked and decided that even with super short notice I think I can get my stuff together.    It was a super super warm day +33 degrees but all went well and most popular was my hairbands Happy to bring my new earrings and Mila was a great helper  Some time ago me and a friend was planning a better display for my hats and found this pegboard in Ikea and together with a easel to hold it upright. I am very happy with this display so much nicer to see the hats then having them laying down.

21/52 Weekly update Studio view and hairbands

Ever so often I need to reorganize all my stuff, thoroughly clean and move furnitures around before I get a peace and inspiration to create. Thats all been done downstairs and upstairs. Now my tall working table is facing out to the balcony and the Grüne Mitte park it looks cute and great view. I have filled my table with parts for creating new hairbands. Cutting fabric strips, sewing, braiding and then mounting them on a satin headband. Very satisfying work and yes I do like the result. What do you think of my new braided bands? - I will try to get some pictures to update of when they are worn.

Falling out with a wardrobe

We had this big wardrobe for all our cloths... This wardrobe pissed me off for the last time last week. Me and my dad tried to fix the problem with the doors once and for all. We spent 40 min trying to figure out the issue and then we lost it. Looked at each other and unison said "let's get rid of it!!" With screwdriver, crowbar and hard work we dismantled and carried the wardrobe out in pieces. Yes it felt good until I realized what a mess we had created. Cloths EVERYWHERE and nowhere to place them now... So we started next project to make shelves in the sauna which is a small room with a lot of cloths more then a sauna.. Squeeze in closet and It is as pretty as it sounds.. At the same time I also started project to build shelves in the kids corner down stairs and to reorganize the small room where the wardrobe got pulled out from. Can you imagine the mess... I was cursing myself why do I always start big moving around projects like this and how the hell will I manage...

Colorful and home made

I have been sewing a lot lately. It is my evening and night activity. I have been buying new cool colorful and mainly ecological fabrics here in Sweden. Filip has got a lot of colorful tights as I find clothing for boys in the stores very dull and boring. Why so much dark colors with cars and trains for boys ? My strategy is to buy plain light bodies and matching them with colorful fun pattern tights that I make myself. Only problem he is growing so fast that I have to keep up with my production for him.   Also I was so happy to make it to big sewing fair in Stockholm last week. Nothing really that I havn't seen before but it was a good day out and I did some shopping of funky eco materials. For example the strawberry tights below from JNY I found very nice and cherful and keeps me dreaming of summer.

Funky elephant hats

I love this cute elephant fabric in organic cotton. I have it in both pink and blue and it is great to combine with some cute colorful patterns. Here is some of my latest combinations. Also the fabric on the bib is organic jersey cotton from german company Lillestoff.

Baby presents Made with Love

Since I got my new cool sewing machine I have been creating a lot of hats & bibs in different shapes, fabric, pattern and colors. I have also widen my portfolio and are now making handy and of course colorful holders for pacifiers. Here is some of my latest creations and presents to new funky babies I know. I will take pictures of product I have for sale when I get a chance as I get a lot of questions of what I have.

Sewing creations

I love my new babylock sewing machine and I am producing hats and bibs like never before. It is a totally revolutionary feeling working with this machine. As soon as I have some time over in the evenings I am creating some new creations for smaller babies inspired by Filip and for older kids inspired by Mila. I have bought some new fabrics but I am also using fabrics from clothing that I no longer can wear or are worn-out at places. It feels great to recycle fabric when I can at the moment I mainly use it as back part of bibs to make the soft for drooling babies. Here is some of my latest creations. I will get around to take pictures of what I have for sale if anyone would be interested.

Weekend creativity

I got into a sewing flow this weekend. I have prepared for the coming baby with a cute babynest and a cute little madras for the stroller ( I will show when I manage to take a good picture..) But on top of this I also finished my pink ECO elephant hats that I cut a while back and was just waiting to be put together.  I have never made baby baby hats before but found on Pintrest some cute styles that I thought I would try. I now need a baby to try if the sizes are ok and if they sit good on the little once heads. I finally used a little piece of my very nice blue with colorful flowers Lillestoff ECO fabric which I have not found the perfect project for before now. But of all what I created I am the most excited over a new colorful and funky cotton dress for Mila. I drew a template a while back for a little dress in pretty classical cut. I made it pretty short as dresses can most of the time be a pain in the ass if you want to play and have fun so I think for kids it is importan...

Recycling cats

As you might know I love to reuse materials and products. It is a great feeling to make something old into something new and fun. We live in such consumer society were everything should be cheap instead of long lasting quality made by people who got fair payment in good work conditions. Hallelujah! No I am not a saint just as bad as everybody else consuming too much. But trying to at least pretend that I am trying to make semi good choices and also reusing materials for my projects.. I think I have shown my husbands well worn t-shirts in new format before.. I use textile paint which can be washed in washing machine to create my figures ( recently mainly cats) the paint is not that easy to paint details with so sometimes I also use textile pens. I use these small pattern patches to stich on as decoration on clothing or in this case small handbag for cat crazy 2 year old.

More creative dots

More colorful jersey dots with black and purple background. Yes I have been rather productive lately but I can't resist to try new combinations of all my cool fabrics. Here comes a nice mix of creations.   Mormor ordered a going-out-with-the-dog-hat/gardening hat. Thin nice jersey hat in a baggy model. She picked her own combination of black giraffes and dots. I also made one for Mila so they can be matching.    Below purpule/pink hat was made late night to go with Loren to Turkey as a welcome to the world gift to one of our Turkish colleague´s little girl.   I also made one for Mila and this is how the hat looks on in action. Mila discovering her first puddle.  Funky jersey dress in size 68 as an Easter present to our little friend Jade who turned 5 months the other day.

Red dots in the house

I have bought some great new fabrics from a shop here in Prague and also some nice cool Eco jersey cotton from a German company Lillestoff. It is a lot of red and dots in different sizes in my newest collection. Here comes some pictures of my latest creations. I have made a few thinner spring hats Also a cool combination of red/orange dots and black giraffes. My own design and it turned out to be far too big for Mila this year. Here Mila is posing on the floor in more colorful dots.. Made with Love tunic with cats and black jersey fabric with colorful dots from Jonic and red/orange dots tights all homemade. I made myself a matching hairband also

New eco tunic

I have bought a lot of new cute fabrics lately. I will take a picture and show my nice new pile and color explosion as soon as I get a chance. For now let me introduce this nice Lillestoff ecological jersey fabric "Retroflower" which I made a little tunic of for Mila. The design of the tunic is simple and my own design with inspiration from Ottobre magazine. Useful for playing as it is not to long and also not too long sleeves. The shorter tunic with the circus theme is also new but the fabric I bought last year and arms made of pappa Loren's old T-shirts.
