Weekly update 8/52 Sunny walks to Kaiserwerth and coffee in the afternoon sun

Week 8 of 2023 was a sunny but pretty cold week here in Düsseldorf. Sunny is good. First coffee outside on the front waiting for Filip to get back from school. I did exercise at Jackies boot camp one day and for the rest I have been for long walks in the nice weather. I walked down to Kaiserswerth to get energy from people, the beautiful cobble-stones streets and Rhein promenad.  Apart from exercising and enjoying the sun I have mainly been working on some new illustrations. Illustrations needs a lot of time to sit and work with layers and layers and new ideas as I go along. My plan is to add characters to my summer landscape, but what or whom I haven't figured out yet. It is very easy to get distracted and come up with other things to do when I am working on illustrations because it is so time consuming but it will be no pictures made if I don't actually sit and draw and paint. Don't get me wrong it is what I love to do but sometimes it feels like I am not doing anything, but if my dream of making a book will ever come true I need to keep working and experiment with story-lines, characters, landscapes and style. I am lucky who have the chance to every day work with things I love to do and now when we know our expat time here in Germany is coming to an end very soon I am trying to maximize my creative work.

Weekly update 40/52 Autumn colors and cinnamon buns

Welcome October the most colorful month of the year. Yes we are going full steam towards the darker and colder part of the year, but I have to admit it is cosy and pretty with all the colorful leaves.  I don't know if it is a new thing to have theme days where a dish or something is being celebrated. I am guessing it is a capitalistic marketing great idea so companies can make more money like Valentine day. One of those days in Sweden is 4 of October when our national bakery Cinnamon bun is being honored. I got inspired! Some time ago I bought nice linnen tea-towels which I was planning to make some print/design on and when I got inspired by cinnamon bun I knew exactly what to make. I started scribbling and drawing buns on a big sheet. When I had one or two which I thought looked ok I transfered my bun drawing to my Cricut and had it cut out on iron-on vinyl. My mum is a master in baking buns and so I made a tea-towel/baking-towel in honor of not only cinnamon buns but of my mother...

Weekly update 38/52 Örebro Autumn market in summer sun

It was exciting to participate at my first market being back in Örebro, Sweden. It was an Autumn market in the beautiful setting of Karlslund Estate in Örebro. Most exhibitor were selling locally grown fruit, veggies and flowers. Also jams, marmelades, bakeries and cheeses. It was a sunny beautiful day and it attracted a lot of people. It was fun to finally again set up my display and show my products. The market stand/table I rented from the organizer and it was perfect size and cute. My best-sellers were my hats in smaller sizes. Amd to next market I need to make more fleece-lined hats since it gets cooler here in Swedem during the winter.
