Wild wild west

This is an illustration from my illustrated journal. I started the illustration in November when my workplace, senior high school in a middle-sized Swedish town, felt more like the wild wild west. I got around to sit in the sofa and color it last night. The story and inspiration to this illustration is a rather crazy period at work. I have in short time as a teacher experienced things that I didn't even think teachers had to deal with. Bitch slaps, incident rapports, expelled students, anxciety, social problems and kid waiting to get deported from Sweden after longtime here.

What was bad language when I was a teenager is today not even considered as swearing. Words, phrases and sentences that I and many with me would never dream of thinking never mind saying out load is what teens of today ( of course not all but my students does) call each other and shouts in the corridor.  That every student get their own computer through school is great but also the computer has a lot of fun stuff to offer and to take teenagers attention. Mobile phone is not allowed in the classroom but to execute that forbid I would have to hire a security guard who can control and to take them of the students. Wild wild west somedays and I guess that why I like my job so much..

Weekly update 40/52 Autumn colors and cinnamon buns

Welcome October the most colorful month of the year. Yes we are going full steam towards the darker and colder part of the year, but I have to admit it is cosy and pretty with all the colorful leaves.  I don't know if it is a new thing to have theme days where a dish or something is being celebrated. I am guessing it is a capitalistic marketing great idea so companies can make more money like Valentine day. One of those days in Sweden is 4 of October when our national bakery Cinnamon bun is being honored. I got inspired! Some time ago I bought nice linnen tea-towels which I was planning to make some print/design on and when I got inspired by cinnamon bun I knew exactly what to make. I started scribbling and drawing buns on a big sheet. When I had one or two which I thought looked ok I transfered my bun drawing to my Cricut and had it cut out on iron-on vinyl. My mum is a master in baking buns and so I made a tea-towel/baking-towel in honor of not only cinnamon buns but of my mother...

Weekly update 38/52 Örebro Autumn market in summer sun

It was exciting to participate at my first market being back in Örebro, Sweden. It was an Autumn market in the beautiful setting of Karlslund Estate in Örebro. Most exhibitor were selling locally grown fruit, veggies and flowers. Also jams, marmelades, bakeries and cheeses. It was a sunny beautiful day and it attracted a lot of people. It was fun to finally again set up my display and show my products. The market stand/table I rented from the organizer and it was perfect size and cute. My best-sellers were my hats in smaller sizes. Amd to next market I need to make more fleece-lined hats since it gets cooler here in Swedem during the winter.
