Weekly update 16/52 Art around Stockholm

During our Easter break in Sweden we also managed to do some small cultural experiences in Stockholm  At Sergels Torg in central Stockholm we saw "The Flag project " hundreds of colorful abstract flags made by teenagers hung across the square   Vasastan Stockholm where my mother lives has a new statue temporarily moved in  at Vanadisplan in Vasastan we saw this this big sculpture Carlota by Jaume Plensa a very influential artist from Barcelona. His art are often found in public places. This face is made out of cast iron and the sculpture is 7 meters tall. The statue has only been lent to Stockholm city and will only be here temporarily. The picture is taken from the car on our way to the airport because although I was planning to have more time to see it and get better pictures out of it.  Cheery blossoming in Kungsträdgården in central Stockholm is like a springtime kick-off for all the inhabitants in Stockholm. It is nearly like a religious moment reported by ...

Weekly update 14/52 Girltrip to Champagne

When a great friend celebrated her birthday autumn last year me and two friends decided to treat her to a spring trip in Champagne, France. We bought a guidebook a nice bottle and made her a card about the coming trip. And we have all looked forward to this trip.  This weekend 1 of April it happened. We left Düsseldorf in the afternoon and drove towards Belgium and France. It was snowflakes and windy but not bad to drive in and the roads were not busy at all. It took 3,5 hours to get to Sedan North East France in Ardennes department. We had booked rooms in Château fort Sedan - a medieval castle 600 years old and the biggest fort/castle in Europe with a total area on 30,000 square metres. So cool that they have made hotel in the castle.  We booked nice French restaurants and had a great experience both evenings with the food and wine.  On the Saturday we drove one hour to Reims - the heart of Champagne We checked out a local market with wine, cheese and sausages Wal...

Weekly update 13/52 Open-air Easter market

This week's update is all about the Open-air Easter market at Landhaus Freeman here in Düsseldorf. Landhaus Freeman is a popular restaurant with a big and well-visited beergarten. The open-air market is set up in their big garden and visitors to the market can have a brunch, lunch or just a drink. This weekend it was super busy and in order to get table for eat you would have had to made a reservation in advance. This was my third market at Freeman and I have to admit I am starting to feel more and more comfortable setting up my stal and being at the market. First time was truly petrifying - to show all my hand-made stuff in public when I hardly show it even to friends. I also realized that I have managed to produced quit a lot of different stuff and it was great to see it all organized and colorful.  This market was an Easter market and as I have showed in this blog before I have made gift bags Easter bunny bags however I mostly sold hats, hairbands and Düsseldorf cards. The weathe...
