Weekly update 21/52 Rotterdam & Gouda

Christi Himmelfahrt means a nice long weekend in Germany. I had booked a trip to explore Rotterdam a big city in the Netherlands which I have not been to before. We left on the Friday around 11 and headed to Familerestaurant The Clown a Pannkoekenhuis close to Valkenswaard. This is Filip favorite restaurant and a must stop every time we are heading to Holland or passing through Holland. I do like the kids to have a favorite place  to come back so the memories will stay strong (especial close to Valkenswaard where i used to live when I was young). Of course it is nice to try new places but the rest of the trips are full of new places and experiences so I do like the routine of making The Clown a good stop on the road.

In Rotterdam we stayed at a hotel in the Erasmus University area. We found a small supermarket and a Starbucks on campus where we had breakfast before exploring the city. Public transport with a tram was a easy and good way to get down-town. I had done some research and Markthal was first on the list. Markthal is a very cool indoor market with lots of food stands. Cube houses, Euromast, Erasmus brugge and more was on our list and most important a boat-ride out cruising around the harbor with a Pannkoenkenboot ( panncake boat).
Rotterdam impressed us a lot. Such clean nice and a very safe feeling of the city. I have been to many dutch cities and I do love them with the canals, townhouses, narrow streets etc. Rotterdam feels so different wider streets and cleaner and much more sophisticated. We can't wait to come back soon.

Gouda only 25 minutes from Rotterdam - the town most famous for the dutch cheese Gouda. I had planned a stop here on the way home. Gouda was founded around the 1100 and the town square is from the Middle ages and the town is super cute and picturesque. We had a walk around and then went to a cheese museum which was great for the children and adults alike and in english. I bought some various well aged Gouda and also a smoked one - ohhh my good the cheese is good and rich in the flavor.
Great trip and so happy for these memories.

Weekly update 42/52 New fleece hats ready for the cooler weather

Weekly update 41/52 Time for warmer hats, nice books and last garden projects

October and week 41 and I have been making lots of new jersey hats with fleece lining. The weather is getting colder and colder and yes hat season is here. I will during the week add new fun warm hats in my web-shop. The hats will also be sold at Christmas markets here in Örebro.  New this year for me is that I am making baby hats since I got a lot of requests. I find it hard to make baby hats because they look so small, it is hard to remember how small babies are.  Also this week big happiness over at new book release from my favorite children book illustrator Sven Nordqvist. "Vägen Hem" a wonderful book with amazing illustrations.   I have also bought and planted some new plants inspired from some nice park arrangements here in Örebro. Now lets hope that all the deer in the forrest will not eat all of these, as I forgot to check wether or not these are tasty to them. In our country-house in the forrest they tend to come and eat everything they like and they ...

Weekly update 40/52 Autumn colors and cinnamon buns

Welcome October the most colorful month of the year. Yes we are going full steam towards the darker and colder part of the year, but I have to admit it is cosy and pretty with all the colorful leaves.  I don't know if it is a new thing to have theme days where a dish or something is being celebrated. I am guessing it is a capitalistic marketing great idea so companies can make more money like Valentine day. One of those days in Sweden is 4 of October when our national bakery Cinnamon bun is being honored. I got inspired! Some time ago I bought nice linnen tea-towels which I was planning to make some print/design on and when I got inspired by cinnamon bun I knew exactly what to make. I started scribbling and drawing buns on a big sheet. When I had one or two which I thought looked ok I transfered my bun drawing to my Cricut and had it cut out on iron-on vinyl. My mum is a master in baking buns and so I made a tea-towel/baking-towel in honor of not only cinnamon buns but of my mother...
