Weekly update: 2 /52 Advent and bags

I am a great fan of Advent and all the preparations before Christmas. In matter of fact I like Advent more then Christmas. The Advent candles, the advent kalenders, advent stars in all the windows and we decorate christmas already first of advent with Christmas tree and everything. And not to forget to mention living in Germany where they have Christmas markets everywhere all of December big and small which makes it an even more magical season.

This year I got asked if I could make 24 small bags for an advent kalender for one class in the local school. Fun project and it was the start of my new design for my gift bags with drawstrings on the sides with cute ribbons or strings. I also realized how much time it takes to make a simple bag and that made me think of the 24 advent kalender bags sold cheap in stores for around about 10 € - it is not possible to be profitable if you don't have cheap label (underpaid and maybe child labour) and cheap material. I told my client that I can't match that price but she will get a product which is made out of 100% organic certified cotton and handmade. Below are the bags in place in the classroom hanging in the Christmas tree - how cute.

I also made Advent kalender for Loren for the second year in a row. A beer kalender - one new special beer picked out by me. Any type of Pils, Weiss, Alt, IPA, Dunkel and Keller bier.

Weekly update 40/52 Autumn colors and cinnamon buns

Welcome October the most colorful month of the year. Yes we are going full steam towards the darker and colder part of the year, but I have to admit it is cosy and pretty with all the colorful leaves.  I don't know if it is a new thing to have theme days where a dish or something is being celebrated. I am guessing it is a capitalistic marketing great idea so companies can make more money like Valentine day. One of those days in Sweden is 4 of October when our national bakery Cinnamon bun is being honored. I got inspired! Some time ago I bought nice linnen tea-towels which I was planning to make some print/design on and when I got inspired by cinnamon bun I knew exactly what to make. I started scribbling and drawing buns on a big sheet. When I had one or two which I thought looked ok I transfered my bun drawing to my Cricut and had it cut out on iron-on vinyl. My mum is a master in baking buns and so I made a tea-towel/baking-towel in honor of not only cinnamon buns but of my mother...

Weekly update 38/52 Örebro Autumn market in summer sun

It was exciting to participate at my first market being back in Örebro, Sweden. It was an Autumn market in the beautiful setting of Karlslund Estate in Örebro. Most exhibitor were selling locally grown fruit, veggies and flowers. Also jams, marmelades, bakeries and cheeses. It was a sunny beautiful day and it attracted a lot of people. It was fun to finally again set up my display and show my products. The market stand/table I rented from the organizer and it was perfect size and cute. My best-sellers were my hats in smaller sizes. Amd to next market I need to make more fleece-lined hats since it gets cooler here in Swedem during the winter.
